Floating black squid-like entities, darkmantles tend to nest in dark, damp environments such as subterranean caves.

Floating: Darkmantles can freely fly due to their innate magical properties.

Darkness Aura: An aura of shadow surrounds the darkmantle. Creatures within 2m see as if in darkness, and any light sources (e.g. torch) within 2m are extinguished instantly.

Monster Attacks

D6 Attack
1-4 Bite! Melee attack with its fangs, dealing 1d6 piercing damage.
5 Face Hug! Attempts to grapple a melee target's head (Brawling to resist). A target grappled in this way is blinded and suffocating. A suffocating target must make a CON check each round to hold their breath, on failure taking d6 damage this and every round after. Can be dodged.
6 Extend Darkness Aura! The darkmantle projects its darkness aura outward, causing all sources of light within 20 meters to be extinguished.
